 |
What if I don't have an existing web site? |
 |
What is the limit of products that CartFactory can handle? |
 |
On the sign up form there is a place for our credit card information. I was wondering, do you accept business checks for this service instead. |
 |
I just signed up for the 7-day trial and I got an invoice!!! |
 |
I signed in for the 7-day free trial. When I enter my username and password it just returns to the same login page with blank username and password fields again, as though I had entered wrong information. |
 |
How can I change my password? |
 |
Your management utility and catalog layouts look very much like those of
MyCart.net. What's with that? |
 |
Very impressed with your site and features. Just wondering why you only
charge $39.95/month for up to 10,000 products and MyCart.net charges $89.95/month for the same number.
Is there something I'm missing??? |
| CUSTOMIZATION: |

I cannot upload a new picture. The old picture persisted after replacing with new file. Using a URL to the image worked. |
 |
I am trying to tie CartFactory into a web site I have already created using Frames. Is there any way to resize the cart so I can fit it within the frame? |
 |
We inadvertently duplicated a catalog. How do I delete this catalog so I won't be double billed? |
 |
I have set up my categories, and saved, but when I go to view my cart I don't see these categories listed. |
 |
We have a small catalog with one category and seven products. Are the Categories and Search buttons mandatory on the side menu bar? Is their some way to remove them? |
 |
We have an existing website for the purpose of selling American western books. We have a merchant account, and ordering service by CoolCart. We seek a service to download electronic books from our website? Are you now or will you in near future offer an E-book downloading capability? |
 |
I clicked on 'View Catalog' and it popped up a username/password entry form. I entered my name and password and it didn't do anything. What happened? How do I view my catalog? |

I have taken a look at your Website / Offers for your CartFactory E-Commerce Business. It appears that your company deals only with companies based within the USA. Is this correct, or do you have the facility to deal with International companies, as well? |
 |
If you do business with the International business community, are the "on-line credit card billing & check acceptance billing" enhancements available to those businesses working within the UK? |
 |
I would like to know how you handle "already registered Domain Names" and
how you work with an E-Commerce businesses' current ISP. This is specifically with reference to
E-Mail facilities. (When an individual visits a Website via your CartFactory, does that visitor see
a URL showing your IP Address linked to the originating registered Domain Name?) |

I already have a merchant number. Can I use it with CartFactory? |
 |
We started taking orders through CartFactory on 8/2. Yeah! We received and set up our NOVA merchant account information today 8/6. I'm a little confused about what to do next. Also, what do I do with the orders already received? |
 |
How do I issue a credit/refund? |
 |
If my client gets set up with online payments by check, does the customer have the option to pay online or to send the check by mail? |
 |
I setup a test page and ordered one item using a credit card number. The order was emailed to me, but on the credit card number the last four (4) digits was XXXX 'd out. When I go live with my site, how will I be able to manually enter a credit card number into my terminal if I can't see what the last four numbers are? |
 |
Is there so me kind of interface I can use to automatically fetch credit cards from clients who have entered them so that I can plug the card number into our billing system to be automatically charged? Will I receive an email when a client enters a credit card or something similar? By the same token, will I receive emails or some other notification when my clients change card info or other information? |
 |
I want to add my Credit Card Processor to your list. How do I go about doing this? |

| GENERAL |
| Q. |
Can we incorporate CartFactory into our existing web site? |
| A. |
Yes. CartFactory.com is a "bolt-on" e-commerce solution. This means that you can have your website hosted at any location and link to the CartFactory software from that web site. Your users actually leave your site for ours when they place an order, but they don't realize it. When you set the CartFactory Cart up correctly, the transition is seamless. The users return to your site when the order is completed. Only the catalog is on CartFactory.
However, should you need to have web site hosting we can recommend some hosting options for you that will dovetail nicely into CartFactory.

| Q. |
What if I don't have an existing web site? |
| A. |
If you don't have a site, you can use CartFactory's initial page as the entrance to your catalog. Your URL would be http://secure.CartFactory.net/start.asp?xxxx where xxxx is your catalog number.
Again, if you need to have web site hosting we can recommend some hosting options for you that will dovetail nicely into CartFactory.

I just signed up for the 7-day trial and I got an invoice!!! |
| A. |
The invoice is automatically generated. If you do not want to keep your cart don't pay the invoice. If you wait 7 days the invoice & shopping cart will disappear. If you DO want to keep your cart, follow the instructions on the invoice.

| A. |
First off, make sure your caps lock is off. Then make sure you only have ONE browser window open. The Catalog Manager may be open in another window. Make sure you are not accidentally using the Reseller Login. Lastly, select "Forgot your password?" which will allow you to have your user name and password e-mailed to you to verify the information. All information is case sensitive.

| A. |
Login to the Catalog Manager and under "Site Security" you can select a new user name and password. You can also ad a Manager's name and password for selected access to some of the cart.

| Q. |
Your management utility and catalog layouts look very much like those of MyCart.net. What's with that? |
| A. |
Good eye! Actually, MyCart.net was CartFactory's first attempt
to create an eCommerce solution. Our parent company,
R & D Technology, Inc., had actually already created a
prototype of what later became the MyCart and CartFactory systems when MyCart came to us with an
offer to partner the two companies. When we joined with them the two companies worked together to
flush out the prototype, finish it off, and market it. In our partnership, R & D was responsible for
the majority of the programming required to bring the MyCart service up to a level where it was ready
to market. MyCart was responsible for the majority of the graphic design, marketing, and daily
customer service.
The two companies split off about two years ago, each with their own copy of the MyCart eCommerce
software. They kept the name MyCart.net and we developed CartFactory.com. The two systems have since
diverged somewhat, but are still remarkably similar.
Both companies have added features, in some cases mirroring each other and in others striking off in
different directions. For the most part, however, the two products are still quite comparable. The
main difference being the price. CartFactory.com charges $39.95 a month for our service with up to
10,000 products. MyCart.net, on the other hand, charges $59.95 a month for only 1,000 products and
$89.95 a month for 10,000.
Another advantage you have with CartFactory is access to the original R & D development team that has
worked on the CartFactory program since it's first prototype form. Most of the original developers
are still in our employ and are experts at the ins and outs of the program. If you ever have any
problems with the service or have an idea for a feature you'd like to have us add, we are definitely
the right ones to come to.

No. R & D Technology, Inc.,
the Parent company of CartFactory actually created the MyCart.net software. It is their choice to
mark up their catalog's pricing. CartFactory is a VERY affordable shopping cart/catalog solution.

I cannot upload a new picture. The old picture persisted after replacing with new file. Using a URL to the image worked. |
| A. |
Those symptoms usually occur when your browser has the old image in cache. When it loads the page it doesn't bother to go out and get a new image because it sees that it already has it. Usually reloading the page will reload the picture, bringing up the latest version of the file. To do this you need to right click on the page and select either reload or refresh (depending on the browser) OR hold down the shift key while you reload the page.

I am trying to tie CartFactory into a web site I have already created using Frames. Is there any way to resize the cart so I can fit it within the frame? |
| A. |
First off you can use the Banner option to choose not to use a banner. This will raise your catalog. You can also disable side menus. If you'll select "General Setting/Global Settings" there is a check box "Disable Side Menu". Other that that the page width is 723 and cannot be altered.

Yes, there is a way to remove the side bar. If you'll select "General Setting/Global Settings" on this page there is a check box "Disable Side Menu". This will disable the side menus for you.

| A. |
Currently there is no way to offer software downloads. We will have this feature available in fall 2003. We will let everyone know through our newsletter when this feature is available. Currently clients that need this feature are selling their items through the use of CartFactory and then fulfilling the orders via e-mail.

I clicked on 'View Catalog' and it popped up a username/password entry form. I entered my name and password and it didn't do anything. What happened? How do I view my catalog? |
| A. |
There is an option in the manager called 'Public/Private'. This option allows you to choose to password protect your entire catalog so only users you authorize have access to the catalog. This is especially useful for wholesalers who do not want to sell to the public at large, but only to select users. It sounds like you've accidentally turned this option on. The option is located in the 'General Settings' tab. Select 'Public/Private' on the left.

We have set up a different domain for you to use. It is called cartsvrs.com. This way there will be no reference to CartFactory for your clients.

| Q. |
I already have a merchant number. Can I use it with CartFactory? |
| A. |
Most likely no. You will have to re-apply with your merchant processor. Also, be aware, the Merchant Account gateways we currently have set up may or may not work with your current merchant processor. There are over 8,000 processors in the country alone. We are writing gateways every day and may have already gotten to yours. However, if we haven't, you may have to switch to another processor such as NOVA or EMS.
If you are an Authorize.net user, you are fine and can enter in your name and password. You can also call NOVA or EMS to see if your merchant number will work with them as a processor. We are adding Merchant Gateways weekly so check back. What many of our users are doing is manually charging these cards until their processor is available.

| Q. |
We started taking orders through CartFactory on 8/2. Yeah! We received and set up our NOVA merchant account information today 8/6. I'm a little confused about what to do next. Also, what do I do with the orders already received? |
| A. |
First off, make sure you input your NOVA numbers into the Catalog Manager under "Back Office/Payment Types/Processors". Select NOVA and enter in the Terminal ID and Bank ID numbers your received. Then SAVE. You are now processing orders automatically. These orders will appear in your e-mail box as well as under the "Orders" section of the Catalog Manager.
For the orders already received, go to each invoice (under "View Orders") and post a payment using the credit card. If you have "Nightly" selected as your settlement option (ONLY available through NOVA) you do not need to do anything else. If you have Manually selected as your settlement option (again, ONLY available through NOVA) you will need to settle these orders after you are done posting the payment.

| |
| Q. |
How do I issue a credit/refund? |
| A. |
You need to go to "View Orders" within the Catalog Manager and select "Create a New Invoice". Create this invoice as a NEGATIVE charge. Then go into the individual invoices and PAY this invoice.

| |
| Q. |
If my client gets set up with online payments by check, does the customer have the option to pay online or to send the check by mail? |
| A. |
No. You either do online check processing or you let the customer send the check by mail. You can't do both. The point of using PayByCheck is that you know that all the checks given for your orders are for active accounts at the time of the order and that they are, in fact, giving you a check. If you provide PayByCheck and let them also just send a check later by mail then all the PayByCheck orders will be real accounts and the others may or may not even send a check. But both orders will go through.
It's the same reason that if you have Online cc processing it doesn't also accept credit card information without online processing.

When I go live with my site, how will I be able to manually enter a credit card number into my terminal if I can't see what the last four numbers are? |
| A. |
In order to have the highest security levels, we will not email complete credit card numbers. If you log on to your Catalog Manager under "Back Office" you can view all the invoices for your catalog. The invoices contain all the information about your order, including full Credit Card numbers.

| A. |
Currently CartFactory does not have any way to automatically interface with your existing system. You can have this feature added by contacting R & D Technology, Inc. directly.
Remember, you will receive an e-mail with the information that you requested when the user signs up. If they ever change any of their information you will also be notified. You will need to do your Accounting System/Invoicing System, etc. from this data.

| Q. |
I want to add my Credit Card Processor to your list. How do I go about doing this? |
| A. |
First off, we need to know if your processor currently processes over the Internet. Secondly we will need their Gateway API. If you can get both pieces of information you can then have this feature added by contacting R & D Technology, Inc. directly.
